Yelp can now call on your behalf to check wait times at a restaurant

Yelp has introduced a new AI-powered feature called "Check for Me," allowing users to have a voice agent call restaurants on their behalf to check wait times. Users provide their party size and phone number through the app, and the AI agent makes the call and texts the results. This follows Yelp's earlier launch of AI voice solutions for restaurants. Additionally, Yelp's AI assistant now integrates with OpenTable for seamless reservations and offers personalized recommendations by remembering user preferences and chat history. Users can create, manage, and share custom lists such as "Been Here" and "Want to Go." Yelp also launched Smart Lead Reply, a paid AI service for businesses to automate customer engagement and lead qualification, competing with other AI customer support tools by companies like Meta.
