Anthropic says its workforce has become less junior and is spending more time in meetings

Anthropic has seen a significant shift in its workforce composition and work dynamics over the past year. The proportion of junior technical employees decreased from 21% to 14%, with junior technical hires dropping from 27% to 9%. Technical teams now constitute a smaller share of the workforce, down from 61% to 56%, as business functions expand and non-technical staff increasingly use coding tools. Employees report increased reliance on Anthropic’s AI, Claude, with some roles shifting from doing work to managing AI outputs. However, human attention and judgement are becoming bottlenecks, requiring more meetings—meeting time per employee has increased by 20%. Despite more code and productivity gains, quality has not declined. The report highlights AI’s impact on work organization, hiring, and labor demand.
