HackerRank has launched Chakra, an AI interviewer that conducts coding interviews by observing candidates' problem-solving processes and evaluating critical thinking, judgment, and AI fluency, not just final answers. After six months in beta and over 500,000 interviews with companies like Snowflake and Capgemini, Chakra replaces multiple interview rounds with a single, interactive session that includes an AI assistant. Surprisingly, it has reduced suspicious activity during assessments by 70-80%. Despite AI's involvement, final hiring decisions remain human.
