Superhuman acquires YC-backed notetaker Fathom as productivity platforms push for agentic work

Superhuman has acquired the Y Combinator-backed AI meeting notetaker Fathom, which has over 400,000 monthly active users and has recorded more than 1 million meetings. Fathom, founded in 2020, raised over $30 million and was valued at $94 million in 2024. Superhuman previously tested an internal notetaker but opted to acquire Fathom to integrate its advanced technology into its productivity suite. This acquisition enhances Superhuman’s platform, which includes an email client, docs app, calendar, database, and AI agent builder, enabling AI to proactively extract insights and context from meetings to automate workflows. The move comes amid intense competition in the AI-powered meeting notetaker space from startups like Granola, Read AI, and Wispr. Fathom’s CEO emphasized Superhuman’s large user base as key to scaling the technology.
